Brooklands Community Park is quite unique. The birthplace of British motor sport, where in 1907, wealthy landowner Hugh Locke King built the world’s first purpose-built circuit and hosted the first British Grand Prix, and to this day you can still see some of the remaining track.
If you’re interested in aviation or wartime history, then you will love to know that aviation history has also been made here! Many Sopwith planes were developed and flown here, and Barnes Wallis designed his famous “bouncing” bomb, right here at Brooklands.
As you’d expect from a former airfield and racing track, this is a large, open space, criss-crossed with tarmac tracks that are popular with walkers, runners and families. A great place for children to practice their cycling skills!

Or if you fancy a stroll there is an easy circular route that explores Brooklands Community Park and the River Wey. This route is relatively flat and suitable for a wide range of ages and fitness levels. There is a nice mix of woodlands and open terrain to explore. This trail is especially beautiful in spring when the wildflowers are in bloom.
Also in the surrounding areas you have Brooklands Museum which is a motoring and aviation museum occupying part of the former Brooklands motor-racing track. The museum displays a wide range of Brooklands-related motoring and aviation exhibits ranging from giant racing cars, motorcycles, and bicycles to a vast collection of civilian and military aircraft, including the Second World War Wellington Bomber and Concorde.
You also have Mercedes Benz World within walking distance. Which is a great day out for the whole family and entry is free. With many exotic and rare cars on show every day, they do a range of driving experiences and for the younger guests there is also our indoor Little Learners electric car track so that they can get behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz.
So whether you are looking for a play in the park, a countryside walk, to learn about the motor sport history or aviation history then Brooklands is the place to be.
