If you dont have a panto booked then you should book Cinderella at Storyhouse. And if you do have a panto booked then I would still book Cinderella at Storyhouse as well. It was so good and so different. You will be entertained and left wanting more.

We were very kindly invited to the Press Night at Storyhouse in Chester to watch Cinderella, their brand new panto for this year.

We have never been to the Storyhouse before, they have multiple theatres inside. The one that the panto is in, is amazingly small, you feel so close to the stage and actors. There are walk ways right between the audience which the characters use, making it perfect for them to interact with you.

The story line isn’t the classic Cinderella you all know. It’s twisted and tweaked into a new love story that will keep you hooked. It’s not just Cinderella that has some romance. Some of the other characters fall for eachother too and in such a cute way.

This is a 100% feel good production. The audience was loving getting involved with the classic “boooooos” to the bad guys and shouting “it’s behind you” but they were also laughing at the comedic timing of the actors and the dancing from the prince in particular had me smiling. There is a lot of talent on that stage and that shined through with this performance.

The actors were truly fantastic. They didn’t just play one role. They swapped between a number of characters seamlessly and I was impressed that they all entered the stage at multiple times during the show playing their own instruments. The evil step mum playing a saxaphone and the mice rocking it with electic guitars. I loved how just above the stage was the dj and drum kit and that one of Cinderella’s step sisters would run up the ladder and start playing the drums amazingly between her scenes on stage or even shouting down her lines while playing.

Talking of the music, the songs were brilliant. The hits being played were some classic cheesy tunes. You know the ones, that we all know the words to and can’t help but sing along to. The actors seriously gave it their all, I felt like I was at a music concert as well as a panto.

The characters were big, colourful and definetly out there, with their personalities. You could tell they were loving being up on that stage and were just full of energy. Their lines were delivered with amusing voices and emphasis. Scenes were full of jokes and fun while also being a lovely romantic story that put a lump in your throat.

It was overflowing with magical moments and suitable for the whole family. I would recommend this performace to anyone to make their Christmas Season filled with joy and laugher. It was a show full of lights, smoke and magic.

I might even have to go and watch it again!
