Just when you think Panto season is over, Parr Hall in Warrington brings out the big guns with this fantastic show of Jack and the Beanstalk panto, which is on between 5th and 14th January.

What I loved about this Panto was that it had such a good balance of humour, interaction, a great storyline and the classic Panto jokes we all know and love. The show was filled with jokes that just made you smile from within. The ones that you know the punch line already but when you hear it, it still makes you chuckle.

I loved sitting between my girls, hearing them laugh out loud. They had smiles on their faces throughout the show. It was 100% feel good watching.

There were plenty of songs, with all the cast having their own turn belting out a big number. Lucy Summers, as the star of the show, Jack Trott, was fantastic. She wore Jack’s shorts with confidence and played the part perfectly.

Jill Crumble played by Milkshake! presenter Amy Thompson was the love interest of the panto. Not only can Amy sing fantasticly, but she looked amazing in her golden dress in the royal wedding finale.

As ever, the costumes were colourful, sparkly, and a little bit out there. Dame Trott won “the most crazy” costume. Each time she stepped out onto the stage, she wore a new wacky dress. Speaking of Dame Trott, Mark Newell played the part of Jack’s mum in classic panto style. Abit of ad libbing, making the audience laugh with his slightly below belt jokes and when he was on stage with Silly Billy the two of them looked to be having so much fun and were the perfect term. The scene where the Dame was creating an echo had the audience roaring with laughter.

Daisy the cow and the giant were so much fun too. Both of the costumes had a real simplicity to them but were so effective and funny.

Fleshcreep was the baddy of the story, causing trouble for Jack. But for every bad guy there is a good girl. Fairy Sweet Pea narrated the story, helped get the magic beans to Jack and being a general sweety of the show.

I really enjoyed the in-between scenes, which were less about the story and more about having fun with the audience. Daniel Dean as Silly Billy used his illusion skills with a mesmerizing performance with magic rings and a cup and ball show with a difference.

Three lucky children were picked to go up on stage to help Silly Billy to sing Old Mcdonald. Amazingly my daughter was chosen and she absolutley loved it. She was buzzing coming off the stage.

Along with the young troup of dancers, the whole cast put on a really great show. So if you missed out on watching a Panto over christmas or you just want to hold on to that seasonal tradition for a bit longer, then get your tickets booked now.
