Lammas Recreation Ground & Splash Pad

Finding ways to entertain the children is always hard, especially when the weather is hot. Everything seems twice as much of a struggle, and I’m always trying to find ways to cool down or adventures in the shade.

We found the perfect place, and it was FREE (just had to pay car parking charges but was definitely worth it).

Lammas Recreation Ground is a family park situated next to the River Thames. There is a large picnic field, two incredible children playgrounds, a really fun splash park, tennis courts and a cafe. There is also a BMX / skatepark which is also free to use.

There is also the opportunity to hire a boat along the river and play mini golf – all can be hired from The Little Green Boat Company.  We had lots of fun on a boat trip last year, check out my The Little Green Boat Company review.

With the temperature today reaching nearly 30degrees we headed to the splash pad area to cool off. This is open from Saturday 3rd May through to September 2025. It is open from 10.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm – 4.30pm from Saturday to Thursday (but closed every Friday)

First impression from Isabella were WOW, the brightly coloured splash pad equipment and flooring was very inviting for the children. There was a low fence around the splash area which made supervision very easy, and there were benches scattered around too.

All around the splash area were different water features, from waterfalls, rainbow tunnels, water guns and bucket tipping – it was the perfect way to cool down.  If you love a splash park as much as us then do check out all our Surrey splash pad reviews.

Isabella absolutely loved being able to run around in the water, she was giggling as she tried to avoid the water jets. A massive bonus was that when the water switched off, the children could then jump onto the pads and activate it all again – it provided the perfect way to cool down.

Making the most of the sunny weather we decided to treat ourselves to a delicious ice cream and sit down by the river to dry after our water adventure. We had lots of fun watching the boats going by, and the ducks enjoyed us feeding them some bread.

Also there are two different playgrounds which you can explore. One is situated right next to the splash area and hosts a whole range of different equipment for the children to explore. There were swings, bucket spinners, sea saw, roundabouts, climbing structures which had rope ladders, slides and interactive panels the children could play with.

Between the two playgrounds and splash area there is a vast amount of green open space which is great for a picnic or a kick about with a football. There is also an outdoors gym with various different fitness equipment which you can use.

Towards the car park side is a smaller playground, but there is plenty of equipment to keep the children occupied (we found this one quieter as was away from the splash area) There was more swings, spinner buckets, seasaw, rope climbing structure, slides and a fireman’s pole.

There is alot to do here at Lammas Recreation, and you literally can spend the whole day here having fun. No matter the weather there is something for everyone to enjoy. So whilst the heat wave is here why not add to your list of places to explore.
