Lytham St Anne’s is a seaside town in Lancashire just south of Blackpool.
St Anne’s beach is large and vast but is exposed so it can be quite windy, whilst lovely for a walk on both days we were there it was far too windy for a traditional beach day. They do however do donkey rides on the beach which seemed to be a big draw.
On the front, they had a lovely free children’s playing park which little girl loved to play in, some of the equipment was a bit different which was exciting!
We also paid £3 per person (under 2’s are free to go on the miniature railway! This did a short loop around the 18 hole par 3 links golf course. Little Links Golf has a fabulous 18 hole Putting Green and an entertaining 9 hole Crazy Golf on St Annes South Promenade.
My personal favourite part of the area is the free Promenade Gardens with water features, waterfalls, interlinked ponds (popular with ducks!), and beautifully maintained gardens from St Annes Pier to the Beach Terrace Café.
There’s a bandstand and shelters along the way to relax and take in the views across the Ribble Estuary and the perfect shady spots for a break!
Splash is also on the promenade, an outdoor water play area for children under twelve. It has water jets, fountains and more and is fully accessible though you do need to book your £1 slot online.
St Annes Pier is a beautiful Victorian pier, we went in to play on the arcades, my little girl loved putting the 2ps into the machines and collecting her tokens, eventually swapping them for some stickers and colouring pencils.
Lastly, is the multi award winning St Annes Beach Huts have become a very popular addition to the beach. All of the beach huts have fresh water, electricity, table chairs and crockery and are available for day hire!
We love Lytham St Anne’s and always think there is so much to do in the area, we like to tie it in with a stay at St Ives Hotel, a family friendly hotel in on the St Anne’s On Sea front.
