Pioneer Play Park at Buckler’s Park in Crowthorne is a brand new playground which brings the WOW factor! A 3500sqm play space for all ages, Pioneer Play forms a key gateway to the 46 hectare SANG at Buckler’s Forest.
The excitement builds as soon you see Pioneer Play Park, from the top of the road you can clearly see the impressive climbing frame with slide. It literally towers across the whole playground, and gives a beautiful view of Bucklers Park.
There is a lot of space here for children to run around and explore, and all natural wooden play structures so it’s a breath of fresh air. There are a variety of swings to cater for all ages, the usual baby swings, basket swing, toddler swing, car seat swing and a double swing where the adult can also join in on the fun too. Isabella loved that I was able to sit on with her, and we had lots of giggles going back and forth.
This playground is so unique and has so many added extras that we haven’t seen in other playgrounds before. We first noticed that there was a swale running through the playground itself, and ending up at one of the ponds at Bucklers Park.
The purpose of this is to collect any rainwater which may surface at the playground, and it also provides a fantastic place for the children to paddling and splash around in. We all know how much children like water play.
For the older children there are various climbing structures and rope areas which they can have fun exploring, climbing and crawling through. There is a very unusual roundabout which looked like a spinning disc, it did go very very fast and Isabella loved this. She kept asking me to sling her faster and faster.
There is also an impressive sand pit area with small climbing frame, and a pulley system for the sand. It’s suited down the sunken part of the playground, and to access this there are some fun ways to get down. Will you choose the double slide, the rope ladder, slide down on your bottom (like Isabella did) or the more sensible way of the stepping stones.
Pioneer Play Park Crowthorne Facilities
Also situated right next to the playground is The Hub (although not opened as yet) I was lucky enough to be shown inside. There is already a cafe on site, and toilet facilities which they hope will be open middle of next month. There is also plans for a nursery setting here, and various rooms which can be hired out for all occasions. So would be perfect for children activities, parties and meetings.
Once you have finished in the playground, then be sure to check out the beautiful Buckler’s Forest which is literally a step away. This would be perfect for walking a dog, exploring nature and burning off lots of energy.
